David Maina

David has joined our organization as the Enterprise Development Officer, effective from July 17th, 2023. David brings with him a wealth of experience in commercial and impact lending, with 13 years of experience in the former and two and a half years in the latter.

David’s expertise lies in portfolio management and grant structure & management. Throughout his career, he has successfully led and onboarded a minimum of forty projects, guiding them towards achieving their desired impact. Notably, David played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund (KKCF) in Turkana County, which was funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This initiative aimed to unlock the economic potential of refugees and their hosts in the Kakuma Kalobeyei refugee-hosting area in Kenya’s Turkana County.

Beyond his specific areas of specialization, David possesses a diverse skill set that includes stakeholder engagement and management, monitoring and evaluation, grant management, credit appraisals and management, small and medium enterprises (SME) finance and management, accounting, risk analysis and management, portfolio management, agricultural finance, and relationship building and management.

David holds a Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurship, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Economics and he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K). He is also qualified in Microfinance for Rural Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Advanced Credit Training, SME Finance, SME and Corporate Appraisal Methodologies among other SME related financing activities.
